Copy a cell places x in another cell

how might you get x to pop up in column E when you copy
out of column D

so I copy D5 and when I do I get an X in E5

can such a thing be done
 
This would take a lot of macro programming. There are just too many ways to
copy a cell. Is there any way you can limit this or make it happen a certain
way in this scenario ?

using mouse but could do other if had to - prefer mouse

I select cel in d with left click then right click and
select copy
