Copied profile won't connect to contacts

Due to reasons not relevant to this discussion, I had to create a new,
additional profile in Outlook 2007. I named it Work.

The original profile, named Outlook, I decided I wanted to rename. Since you
can't rename a profile, I decided to copy it using the new name I chose.

The copy operation went without incident and all email, contacts, calendar
items, etc. copied over to the copied profile just fine.

However, when I click To in an email, there are no contacts showing. The
Contacts folder is there as I can click on the folder link on the left of the
Outlook window and the contacts are all there.

First thing I did was check to see if the box was checked to use it as an
email address book. It was not checked but it was grayed out so I couldn't
check it.

I then went to Tools | Account Settings | Address Books tab. Outlook Address
Book is listed so I didn't need to add that. It wouldn't let me remove it
though at the Remove link is grayed out.

So just how do I get my Contacts list associated with this profile to be
able to use it?

It has been very well documented here that Outlook 2007 has a permanent bug.
You cannot copy or transfer profile settings without disabling the Outlook
Address Book Service irreversibly. You must create new profiles from scratch
in Outlook 2007. It will remain forever thus.

Unfortunately, that documentation is not well known enough to be available to
most Outlook 2007 users. MS hasn't done a good job of informing users in my
opinion of a bug that is serious in nature. They really should try to do
something to get the word out about this bug. I have been using Office 2007
for two years now, am an IT professional with over 10 years in the business,
and have never before now heard of this bug. So while the bug may be well
documented somewhere, it's not available in the ways that it needs to be.

Hello? Microsoft does not document bugs that are minor and that it has no
intention of fixing. For those an IT professional would have read these
newsgroups to learn of their existence. They're not a secret. Expecting
Microsoft to document and solve your every problem is a bit naive if you ask
me. That's why these newsgroups exist.

Apparently our definitions of minor and major do not agree. Defend Microsoft
as you like (I know I have many times when justified), I doubt you would have
any users who have been caught by this "minor" bug siding with you when they
find out all the customizations to Outlook they've made are all for naught
and have to be completely re-done. That is, if they can remember all of them.

I'm just a dumb cardiologist, not an IT professional like you. I'm hardly
defending Microsoft. All I know is that I and others have posted this bug
countless times over the last three years. If it was a secret to you, it's
not our fault. If you have an issue with Microsoft, I'd suggest taking it up
with them. You're not doing that in a public newsgroup. Good luck with that.
Fact remains that creating a new profile is at most a minor inconvenience.
Suspect that's why this bug was never fixed.
