cookies spyware

I posted a question on the forum earlier and am still in
need of some help. Everytime I visit ebay.com I am passed
a cookie that contains spyware (according to ad-aware 6.0
called something like "bfast") and will not let me access
the site. It instead, sends me to a site
called "www.adfarm/mediaplex.com" that never shows up. I
have tried deleting temporary internet files, cookies,
and cleared my history and the problem continues. I have
also run a spyware check using ad-aware 6.0 and deleted
all spyware. I was told that I should download a broswer
plug in from http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm,
and I followed the instructions, putting it in the
appropriate file, and am still having the same problem.
Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

Nathan,

Try SpyBot if Ad-aware hasn't worked for you.
http://studserver.uni-dortmund.de/~su1669/spybotsd12.exe
SpyBot home: http://security.kolla.de/
SpyBot How-To: http://www.tomcoyote.org/SPYBOT/
Run the executable, reboot, read the FAQ and overview, use the online update
feature to obtain the latest reference files.

The fine gentleman that hosts the HOSTS file web site is not available for the
moment - he would have suggestions for you as to why your HOSTS file
installation has not shown to block banner ads and others.
You may want to re-read the instructions, and re-try the HOSTS ad-block method.

HTH
