Cookie problem

All,
When I go into Internet options to adjust the settings for cookies, I check
the box to allow for prompting etc etc.

Weird thing is, as soon as I leave the window and then go back, it reverts
back to an unchecked state. It does this no matter how I exit out of the
window.

In a nut shell, it will not let me control cookies.

It is effecting how I can surf on secure sites that need cookies enabled.

Is there a fix for this or is a reinstall the only option??

Windows 2000 Prof. OS

Thx for any suggestions on this.

If you have a firewall installed it could have you
locked out of changing the parameters. McAfee
does that on my computer.

Also, Spybot Search & Destroy can do same, but it can
be disabled in settings.
