"cookbook" permissions setup for sole user?

First of all, I apologize for posting in the wrong place...not once but
twice!
Due to new OS stress.


Just wondering if there were some broad generalizations that could be made
for the person running Vista as a sole user. I would like to set this up so
that I have full access to my system without turning off the UAC.

This is a Vista Home Premium clean install. I am not having big problems but
I would like to have a plan for a consistent setup. I did not set up any
other users.

I have 4 partitioned drives. CDE partitions are on the same drive. They
are set to "Authenticated User" with full permission and I don't seem to be
able to change to any other user. My other drives are all set to "Owner
Creator"
with full permission. When I changed the settings for this
particular "Owner Creator" I got the message that my reclyle bin was
corrupted and that I could not access my system information file...did I
want to continue...if I did it might cause instability...so when I chose to
cancel there was a messaage about inconsistencies??

Hi Kristin,

You can activate the real Built-In Administrator account. It will give
you full access like in XP without touching UAC. This tutorial will
show you how.

Thanks so much for that handy tip! I also enjoyed looking around your Vista
site..lots of great tuts and forums.

What I am wondering...as a general rule, which type of user/permisssions
would work best on drives dedicated to data storage
for someone who is a sole user of the system? I could not change my data
drives from Creator-Owner. I could not alter them to give them more
permissions. Sooo...I juggled data, formatted the drives...thereby getting
rid of the Creator-Owner user type. Now they are all "Authenticated User"
with full permission but I can't change them from one type of user to
another. I am sure there is a logic to this but I am "not getting it" yet!
