Converting to XP

Hejhog

I am converting to XP from 98SE for gaming, and also for
digital photography, MPEG etc..
The games I like to play are Call of Duty, Medal of Honor,
Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Rainbow 6.
My problem is this , which version should I buy. Home
version or Professional? I heard professional does not
perform well for gaming. I rather nor spend that much
money on it if this is the case. Anyone help on this would
be appreciated!
Thanks,
Hejhog

I play all of the games you listed below regularly
without issues using Win XP Pro. I've been using it for
about a year and I haven't had a single performance issue
yet. Just keep all your drivers updated and you should be
fine. As long as you don't need to host remote desktop or
connect to a domain then Win XP Home should be fine for
you.

If you were to "skim-thru" this newsgroup, you would see most people
recommend XP Pro for gaming. XP Pro has more configuration options.

XP Home has some difficulties with older games and is limited with user
configurations.
