converting pdf file to a text file

On my office computer I am running Windows XP with
Microsoft Office XP bith home editions.

By accident I discovered that I can convert pdf files to
text files by right clicking which gives me a "convert"
option.

On my home computer running the same system and software
I don't have this option.

Anyone know why?

The files I converted at the office were scanned as pdf
files from word files. Would this make a difference?

It is because on your office computer someone (you or your computer
support staff) have intalled software to the machine that does this.
Creating Adobe PDF files is not provided with the XP operating system.
Check with the folks at the office to find out what they installed, and
then obtain and install same product at home.

It's probably Adobe Acrobat (see www.adobe.com/acrobat).

Just saw an ad in a catalog for a ScanSoft program ($50) to
convert PDFs to Office file as a direct copy with all
formatting intact.
