converting .mp4 to divx

I've got a whole bunch of "vodcasts" that I have obtained through
itunes. They are in .mp4 format. I'd like to be able to burn them onto
a disc for two reasons, firstly so I've got back-up copies but also to
share with friends who don't have ipods. So I need to burn them into
divx format. Does anybody know of any freeware/shareware programs that
can do this for me?
