Compress DVD to mp4, AVI, or DivX ??

Just bought a VIVO from Dixons today (plays videos and mp3) for £49.99. The
guy told me that i could easily download software from the net to fit 3 full
length DVD's onto the flash memory of this player. Bearing in mind that it
has a 1GB flash memory, i take it that each film would be about 300mb ?.

That be the case, and realising that a DVD is 4.7GB, how on earth can i
compress a DVD to fit onto this player, let alone 3 ??. He said the software
was free, but he couldn't remember the website. I assumed that there would
be a link in the manual for the player, but there isn't !!

So, in a nutshell, is there any software on the net which i can use to rip
my DVDs to go on this player. It supports DivX, AVI and mp4. Easy to use
software if possible !!

Many Thanks
Andrew

Hi!
AutoGordianKnot should do that - though it is NOT legal to rip
copy-protected DVDs! No matter if you bought them or borrowed them.

Just wanted to comment on video size. Generally a very good quality DVD
rip [to AVI format] of a feature-length film, say approx. 90 min to 2
hours. will be around 800meg.
