Converting JPGs to 256 Color BMPs using Paint

Suvojit

Hi,

Was wondering if we open JPGs in Paint and save them as
a "256 Color Bitmap", does it truly convert the picture
to a true bitmap?

Can this activity result in loss of quality, especially
considering if we want to resize the "bmp" at a later
point in time?

Thanks and Regards,

Suvojit.

Hi Suvojit,

Yes, it does save the picture as a true bitmap.

However, you will lose color quality because you're dropping a jpg with
thousands of colors down to 256 colors.

I hope this answers your question! :)
