Converting from Powerpoint to MS word using "send to"

I'm using MS Powerpoint 2002, and it has a nifty option in the File
menu called "Send to". Using this, you can select "Microsoft Word" and
then it exports little pictures of the slides into Word along with
adjacent note lines (to look just like a printed handout).

The only problem is that it exports slides in full colour, and when
they have a blue/purple/red/whatever-coloured background, they don't
print out well from Word in greyscale.

The View menu allows you to view the slides in greyscale or pure black
& white, but even after doing this they still export to Word in full
colour.

I know you can print straight from PowerPoint and choose "Print as
Handouts." Select 3 slides per page and it provides lines by each
slide. But I really do need it in Word. The intention is to add the
slides (in handout format) to a 300+ page booklet as one of the
appendices, with notes and some other squiggles added.

Anybody know how I can get the slides to export into Word in greyscale
or pure black & white?

pshutton,

in earlier versions of powerpoint - if you switched to black and white view
before exporting - all was well.... in the meantime.

see these workarounds

Black and white or grayscale slides are displayed in color when you send
them to Word
