We have a large word document. Some of the reason for it
being large is imbedded images. The orig author pasted
images, and then resized them. I converted the doc first
to word, then in an attempt to get the images out, to
html which removed the images (but a lot of the word
stuff is lost in the process).. This also shows exactly
how big the image was in pixels (after resizing in the
orig doc).
Now, i would like to replace the images in the orig word
document with references. I can delete the image, and
insert an image from a file. However then i have to
resize it and I am not sure of getting it just the right
size again. (it would also be nice to go the other way,
in case we want to just send a monolith document.).
I have tried to apply the html version as a correction,
but the size information is lost going from html to the
orig document. also visa versa does not seem to work
cause the html is more restricted than the word. Of
course i don't even want the html, it is just that the
conversion to html seems to have pulled out the images
and orig resize size inforation in pixels(which i can
read using the html editor)...
How can i see/change the resize information in the orig
word document (other than by resizing it) will this info
be in pixels like the html ?
Is there any other automation i can use to help me?
The purpose is to facilitate making changes to the text
among people spread out with slow lines.
(this is a report on our ancestors, and lots of the
relatives do not have sophisticated fast computer lines,
so i might send a cd with the images and text, and they
can make changes to the text and email it back. Of
course if they only suggest a few changes, i will just
manually make them. I made a more direct request a
couple days ago, but no one has made a suggestion, so i
thought maybe this more oblique request would be
simpler.. Maybe i could convert to xml also or
something like that (closer to 1 to 1 onto?), but I am
not even sure word can do this--i guess it must with all
the xml hype!.. (I will check that out when i am done
here--to my limited ability)..
