Hello all,

Is there a way to take an audio from a DVD movie, clip it and convert it to
MP3 (preferably using freeware)?

Thanks for all of the help,

DVD2avi will extract a source WAV or AC3 audio.
If it's AC3, use BeSweet to convert to WAV.

You'll then need an WAV editor such as GOLDWAVE to cut
the piece you want. It's then a simple matter to convert the WAV to
MP3. I use Lame/Razorlame, but I'm sure there are many options here.
Goldwave may do it directly.

Dave,

Thanks for the info. But from your reply, it sounds like I have to take the
whole audio track from the movie. Is this correct? Or am I able to select
the specific part of the audio I want?

Thanks again,

Assuming you're going to be ripping from a physical DVD
and the VOB files are not yet on the harddrive, the answer is not
necessarily. If you use something like SmartRipper, it has the
ability to rip only the chapter(s) you need.
