Converting a date to number

Hi all

I am new to excel, have looked through excel help which was no help at
all.

I have a date in one cell and in another cell I want a formula to
convert that into a number. I have multiple cells with multiple dates,
but I want all the dates to equal the same number. The date cell is
formatted to display in date format (The date needs to remain
displayed).

Example:

A1 = 03/03/2009
A2 = 04/04/2009

B1 = A1 to equal 1
B2 = A2 to equal 1

I hope I have explained this clearly *lol* Any help would be greatly
appreciated.

**Maybe** this entered in B1 and copied down:

=--ISNUMBER(A1)
