Google for the latest version - Does what it says.

MPGTX
Google for the latest version - Joins & Splits MPG files into playable
parts.

WinRAR
Google for it. Compresses MPG files because the format is not
compressed well compared to Divx or Xvid.

WMV, RM, RAM & MOV
Piss-poor quality formats. Avoid them as much as possible because you
can't edit the movies easily as an AVI or MPG.

TMPGEnc
Is a program that will convert WMV, DVD, or AVI to MPG1 or MPG2

I am really new at editing movie files. I have 3 files that end in the
..wmv format. I am trying to read up on the TMPGEnc program. Can
someone pass along their hard earned knowledge and give me some
advice. Will this program help me merge 3 .wmv files?

I figured it out. I used the TMPG Encoder and changed the .wmv file to
..mpg without any problems. This is a very nice free program.

No, it will convert them to MPEG or AVI, as your have found out.
ASFtools will join WMV and ASF files for you.

ASFtools will join WMV and ASF files for you.

WindowsXP MovieMaker2 will also join wmv files if you add them to your
collections, then drag them in sequence to the timeline.
