Convert Parallel to Serial

Is it possible to convert the connectors in my computer, which are parallel,
to Serial ATA?

I have a serial hard drive from my friend and I need to back up the
information on it. Before restoring it completely.
Unfortunately I can't do it from his computer using this hard drive because
it won't let me launch windows on it and there are several other issues
going on.
The only computer I have has parallel connections.

Thanks

Parallel ATA ? - You may be approaching it backwards. You can
buy a SATA-to-IDE adapter to allow use in a non-SATA compliant
PC. Or as an alternate approach you could buy a PCI add-in SATA
card for ~$30 to allow you to access/use the SATA drive.

Better to refer to traditional IDE as PATA, even though it's a parallel
technology - using Parallel makes readers think of the Printer port
type.

There are a couple ways to go:

External usb enclosure.
Serial ATA pci card
PATA-SATA converters (they suck... last resort)

Problem Solved.

I got a converter by Bytecc (BT-300) and moved everything from the parallel
to an external hard drive.

Thanks for the help
