Hi! A friend of mine plans to convert pieces of music on audio CDs to
MP3 files. Whithout any knowledge in this matter, could you suggest me a
software doing the job you have already experienced. Thanks for your
kind response!

EAC, hands down. Especially if any of your CDs are anything less than
mint condition.

I can't figure out how to have it ask the freedb for the names of the
tracks; it keeps objecting that the genre is wrong, the disc title is
wrong, etc etc etc

Also: if I extract audio with EAC, how do I burn it to an audio disc
with Feurio?

Thanks.

Did you at least READ the help file? It's all there.

EAC does need more configuration work and understanding. Maybe
an out of the box solution is better for you, like the also
mentioned CDex or Audiograbber.

Thorsten

The best way via EAC/Lame. Read about it here:

Sheldon, you sound relatively new to this sort of thing.
Why not read up on the topic at Radified?
It is a good and practical intro.

Actually, EAC can burn audio CD's if you download the version of EAC
which contains the CDRDAO burning application. You can get it from
http://www.digital-world.de/downloads/audio/software/1253089/index.html
look for Exact Audio Copy V 0.95 beta 4 with CDRDAO-Burning .
