Convert folder to web

I published a web to a cd at home. Brought it to work and
tried to open it. I couldn't because of the ".lck" file.
So I copied it to my FP directory, deleted the .lck file,
and opened it. Now, however, after making quite a few
changes I discover it is not a web (doesn't have the web
icon), but a folder. How can I convert it to a web? I'm
afraid if I try to publish it to my website I will have
problems. (It will be published to a subweb.) In the Help
file of FP 2002, there is "convert web to folder" but not
the reverse.

The correct way to have done this was to have copied the web from the CD to
a folder on your HD, then, in Window Explorer remove all of the read-only
attributes, then open the folder in FP and let FP convert the folder to a
web, then publish the web to the final location on your HD.

Well now that I DIDN'T do that. What can I do? I don't
want to make all those changes again. Surely there is a
way. Can I import all the files to another web?

Where is this folder on your HD?

If you open this folder directly in FP, then you should have been prompted
to let FP convert it to a web.

It is in the directory of all my webs. The strange thing
is, that when I click "File Open Web" the icon is there
signifying a web. But in Windows explorer, the icon is
NOT there. A FOLDER is indicated. ???

Windows Explorer / My Computer will never shown the folder with the globe on
it, that is a function of FP. Windows sees the folder as a normal folder.

Windows Exploer used the file desktop.ini in each folder to control the folder icon display
In the case of a FP web the content is
[.ShellClassInfo]
IconFile=_vti_pvt/fpdbw.ico
IconIndex=0
ConfirmFileOp=0
InfoTip=Stores your local web site

Which means the icon (fpdbw.ico) is coming from the hidden system folder _vti_pvt
