Convert Dual boot XP/Vista to Vista Single??

Guest

I have a dual boot system XP/Vista on a single hard drive. How do I now
delete the XP partition and convert the drive to just Vista alone?

The boot manager files are currently installed on the XP partition (the frst
partition on the drive).

Thanks

What you do is start up from the Vista cd. Then all you do is extend click
on 1 of the hard drives and click the extend button. (i dont think there the
format button will work at this moment.) once when u see 1 hard drive
instead of 2 then that means both information are in 1 partition. SO then
it's smart to do a clean install which means formating the Hard drive and
then installing. Make sence?

I haven't tried this, but I would assume one could delete all the folders
and files from the XP partition (boot partition) with the exception of the
following hidden files/folders. These you would want to keep on that
partition as they may be used by Vista to boot. Then merge the two
partitions together.

Boot (hidden folder)
boot.ini
boot.ini.saved
Boot.BAK
bootmgr
BOOTSECT.BAK
MSDOS.SYS
CONFIG.SYS
IO.SYS
NTDETECT.COM
ntldr
