Convert data in Excel ! Help

I am tryingto convert a Rota, which has columns like , name, L=lat
shift, M=Middle shift , O=off, V=Vacation,etc(Please see attached file
 
My newsreader removes attachments before I get them. Can you explain your
problem in the text area?
