ControlTip Displays in one line vs a BOX in Access 2000 & Up,

In Access 2000 and up the ControlTip (field Property on a
form) Text is
displayed in one line horizontally. In Access 97 & Access
95, the text
displayed in more than one line in a box therefore makes
it easier to read
and does not truncate it if the text expands greater than
the width of the
monitor. This is really frustrating, since I rely heavily
on the
ControlTip to assist the users. Now that I have converted
my Access95 app,
I am getting less of a feature in Access 2003.

Any ideas how to get over this hurdle? Is there some kind
of Option to setup?
I know that I could insert enter CRLF into text, to force
it start on a new line, however I do not want to do this
for every field.
Any ideas appreciated.

Place the cursor in the Control Tip box in the properties sheet and press
Shift+F2. This will bring up an edit window. To create more than one line,
press Ctrl+Enter where you would like the line breaks. Pressing just Enter
is the same as clicking the Ok button.

That's odd. I'm not getting any difference in this regard between the
copy of Access 97 I have installed and my copy of Access 2002 . They
both display on one long line. But I could swear I remember control
tips of any real length displaying in boxes. I wonder if this is
dependent on the Windows version. Do your Access 97 versions display
the same as before, even on later OSes?

If you have to, you can write a routine to go through all your forms,
examine every ControlTip property, and insert CRLFs to break them at
suitable places.

Dirk,
The Access 97 & 2000 that I have is on Win 95 and the
Access 2003 is on Xp. So it could be OS realted. Also, I
am using the max size of the tip which is 255. Thus if I
insert the CRLF, then I have to cut down on some chars.

I am just wondering why MS makes some of the features
obsolete or unuserfriendly when they upgrade the s/w?

Beats me, though they have an awful lot of software behavior to keep
track of. I just try to work around it.
