Controlling the Scroll Bar

B

Bill

When I click in the scroll bar, the page jumps much more
than a page and I have to use the scroll bar arrows to
move back to where I want to be.

I have a 17 inch monitor at 1024 x 768. Is this my
problem or is there a way to control the page movement?

Caused by a bug in the recent Q824145 patch.
Microsoft probably knows about it by now.
By the time we get used to this 'new'
feature Microsoft will fix it!!

This is due to a bug in critical update 824145.
Work arounds:
Click immediately under the slider.
Drag the slider.
Use the mouse wheel.
Use the Page Down and Page Up keys.

Maybe they don't since Microsoft hasn't added it to the
knowledgebase, acknowledged the bug, nor indicated when
(or if) a fix will be available. I suggest using a
different browser - which is what I'm doing. I'm still
amazed that they obviously didn't bother to even open a
browser window after changing the code. Now that's good,
high-quality software engineering (insert major sarcasm
here).

If this only affects IE and Outlook/Outlook Express
preview pane, then it is due to a bug in the November
cumulative security update to IE. Microsoft has now fixed
QB824145. Download and install it again from their web
site.
