Control XP taskbar scrolling?

A

Annoyed

My job frequently requires me to open many windows at
once, and I need single-click access to my windows, so I
don't use taskbar grouping. Prior to WinXP, having many
windows open resulted in many small buttons on the taskbar
(which is what I want).

WinXP changed things by creating rows of buttons and
up/down buttons to scroll through the rows. It's a pain
because now I need to click multiple times to locate the
window I want.

Is there any way to turn off this behavior? Or at least
adjust the threshold that causes XP to start creating rows?

Any thoughts appreciated.

How many windows do you have open? I can see 8 before it scrolls, and
that's with 3 icons showing in Quick Launch and 3 showing in System Tray.

You can remove toolbars (like Quick Launch), hide more icons in the
System Tray, lock the TaskBar (gives you one more button), remove the
clock, and if you are still annoyed, :) (Nyuk, nyuk)

97. Decrease the Size of Taskbar Buttons
Which will give you itty-bitty sized buttons.
