I want to prevent XP users from using visual effects. I want to enableperformance. Can I do this through SBS GP? I could not find it if its in
there.
I use a downloaded registry settings file on logon for certain users and you
could perhaps do the same, or simply login to the client and change the
registry setting. If that's of any use, I found the following article:

Please let me know if you need help with this as editing the registry
shouldn't be attempted unless you have first backed it up and know what you
are editing.
I would like to control all XP workstations on my domain and force them to
use "Best Performance" under visual settigs. Is there a way to do this. I
have tried registry edit, and the change is made (Box is Checked) but the
default settings are still used. Below is my post to another newsgroup.

I have performed the test locally and the results is the same as yours.
After performing the research, I would like to provide the following
information:
1. When we change this setting in the System Properties, the OS will use
the API to configure all settings that is listed under Best Performance,
and then modify the registery key.
2. If we simply modify the registry key, the option "Adjust for best
performance" will be selected. However, since the OS didn't use the
necessary API to configure all performance settings, you still see the
default XP settings.
In this situation, this issue has become an Windows XP question. We need
to know what policy or way that we can use to let all users on 1 WinXP
machine to use "Adjust for best performance". After that, we can use AD
to deploy this setting. I recommend you post this question in
microsoft.public.windowsxp.perform_maintain newsgroup so that other users
that may share the experience with you. Your understanding is highly
appreciated.
