When I click on Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel, I get the message
C:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe is not a valid Win 32 application
What has happened and how can I rectify,
Thanks

1. Verify your partition is error-free (chkdsk c:)
2. Right-click on C:\Windows\System32\rundll32.exe, Properties, Version Tab
and determine if Microsoft file
3. Determine if C:\Windows\System32\appwiz.cpl is present

If rundll32.exe is not present, check
C:\Windows\System32\DllCache\rundll32.exe is present.

If system is error free, and files are missing, locate C:\Windows\i386
folder or C:\i386 folder. If not present,
load Windows XP CD disk in CDROM drive, open i386 folder, and locate
rundll32.ex_

1. Copy rundll32.ex_ to C:\Temp folder (or someplace).
2. Run from command prompt: expand rundll32.ex_ rundll32.exe
3. Copy rundll32.exe to C:\Windows\system32 AND
C:\Windows\System32\DllCache folders
