control panel

Hi anybody,

I've tried to solve a problem with my control panel, but didn't succeed. So
I hope there is somebody "out there" who is able to help me.
Now about the problem.
After installing the software Pinnacle Instant CD/DVD 8 OEM I cann't get the
control panel working. Everytime I "click" on the control panel the screen
goes black and the computer starts itself up. A visit to the Microsoft site
just gives solutions for Windows 98, etc., but not for Windows XP.
Nvertheless I've tried the solutions given by Microsoft but still no control
panel. I even tried clicking each .cpl, which resulted in the "answer" that
the problem starts everytime I click on wscui.cpl.
While the problem didn't occur when I installed the software on my laptop I
even copied the file from my laptop. Still no solution.
So please is there somebody who can help me?

When starting your computer press the F8 button, you will then come to a
black screen that asks you how you would like to start your system. Choose
"Last Known Good Configuration"...If this does not work try uninstalling the
software then rebooting the computer...If I understand the question right,
you installed the software on your laptop, then copied it over to a desktop?
If this is how you did it.....did you go through the proper installation of
the software on the desktop?

Pinnacle software is really not very good at all. I would advice that you
uninstall it and restore your PC to a date earlier than the date that you
installed Pinnacle.
