Control Panel Views

I am using XP Pro and I seem to have lost the option to
switch my control panel view from classic to catagory
view. I no longer have the blue xp verticle task bar on
the side, any suggestions.
 
Go to Tools/Folder Options, when in a folder. Select the "Show common tasks
in folders" to turn on the panel to the left. Now it should be possible to
switch between Classic and Category view in the control panel.
