Control Panel Problem

Hi.
1) I cannot access my Control Panel. I getthis message:
This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this
action. Create an association in the Folder Options Control Panel.
I click OK and then the following message come sup: Access to the specified
drive, path or file is denied.

What is going on here? I did have some problems with spyware and I have run
Spybot, Adaware, CWSShredder, Roottoolkit, HiJack and Norton Antivirus to
make sure that my system is clean. I did have a problem with SearchAssistant
trying to take control of my IE. I also ran SpySweeper and I still cannot get
my system back.

2)I also cannot get access to my Desktop by clicking on the icon in the
QuickLaunch section.

3) One last problem, my Windows Explorer icon seems to ahve associated
itself with another application.

Are all of these related? How do I rectify them?

Thanks for the response.
However, I cannot do this. When I try to install W2K, which I have to do
manually, it will not let me. I get a message saying something about not
being able to upgrade over W2K SP4, which I have. Also, the version on the
CD is W2K Pro with SP2 included.
Anything else to help?

Thanks,
George

Yes you cannot use integrated media to do an in-place upgrade. Borrow a gold
(sp0) version CD-Rom from someone.

Thanks, but that did not workk either. I still cannot get access to my
control panel. Therefore I cannot uninstall anything.
Any other ideas?

Thanks

You're probably looking at doing a clean install.
