Control panel not responding

I can not open any files. Every time I try to open my
computer,control panel,my documents, or just any file. It
locks up and says that its not responding. But If I
reboot in safe mode I can get into everything. I'm
running windows xp home. Please help me.

What does a scan with a current antivirus program (meaning a version not
later than 2002 and using updated virus definitions) show? Obviously,
you would scan in Safe Mode because something is starting in regular
mode that is interfering with normal operation of the computer.
