Hi

DELL dimension 9150, just 2 years old.

I have all available updates to the XP 2 service pack. Suddently, when
trying to open the control panel to uninstall a program, this action
causes the Explorer to crash - every time.

Has anyone got a tip that can help me fix this problem.

Thansk a lot,-
Kristian

Hello Kristian,

Open Explorer or My Computer

In Tools => Folder Options => View check the button to 'Show hidden
files and folders'
Navigate to C:\Windows\System32
Look for a folder (probably in blue) named "dllcache" and open this
folder.
Look for a file named "control.exe".
IF the "dllcache" folder exists and only IF the "control.exe" file
exists:
Go to the main System32 folder and delete the file control.exe
It should be replaced automatically by the copy from the dllcache
folder.

If the above isn't possible, Go to Start => Run and type in
sfc /scannow {with a space after sfc}
You may be asked for your XP installation CD.

Luck!
