Control Panel contents will not stay as icons

Nearly all of my directories are set to display as "Details".

Exceptions are folders that contain pictures (set as Thumbnails) and
the Control Panel - set as Icons.

However when I open the Control Panel, the listing is by Details. I
change it to Icons, then select the one I want and close.

Later, if I open the Control Panel again, the listing is back to
Details.

Anyone know of a fix?

After you change Control Panel's display to Icons, hold down the CTRL key while you
close Control Panel with the X in the upper right corner of ther window.
