Control Key not selecting

When I hold the control key to select multiple lines that aren't attached to
one another and it acts just like the shift key. By that I mean it selects
all of the lines in between as well. How can I change this. Its only on
this one computer I have to use. I didn't change it so I don't know how to
change it back.

What version of Word is in use on that computer? That feature was introduced
in a relatively recent version of Word, IIRC.

I believe it is Word 2003. I have the same program on four other computers
and they perform this function fine, it is just this single computer that has
the problem. Is there a way to turn this function on and off?

You don't know which version of Word you are using?

I'm sure that non-contiguous line selection was a new feature in Word 2007.

You can select non-contiguous rows in a table in previous versions, but not
lines of text.
