Hi

Lately a lot of users are getting this error while trying to do anything basically
Our image is tottaly up to date with the patches and we are running Mcafee 7
Virus scans pick up nothing
Any suggestions?

Thanks

It's not a virus issue. It's a race condition most likely in mshtml.dll. Return to a prior version of Microsoft Internet Explorer hopefully back to IR 5.01. Remove personal settings upon reboot. Then apply run sfc /purgecache /scannow in the command prmpt (Start | Run | cmd | OK | sfc /purgecache /scannow <ENTER>). Reboot. Then reinstall your current version of Windows 2000 Service Pack. Reboot. Then change this key in the registry (Start | Run | regedit | OK

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed Components\{44BBA840-CC51-11CF-AAFA-00AA00B6015C}

Change the IsInstalled value from 1 to 0.

Reinstall IE 6 SP1. Then Reboot. Then go to the Windows Update site and install the October 2003 Cumulative Update for IE 6 SP1.

Reboot.

There is one last thing you can do but get this far and tell me if the behavior continues.
