I'm running Windows XP Pro service pack 2 and have recently started getting a
problem that seems to manifest whenever I try to open / edit image files. At
first I thought it was a dodgy installation of Paintshop, but since
uninstalling this and taking a system restore back several weeks I now find
the same problem even using Paint.
The application opens OK, but as soon as I try to open an image file,
everything slows down and the hard disk writes continuously. In Task Manager
I see several instances of dumprep.exe and stopping these appears to
stabilise the system.
I'm running Norton antivirus but checked it with Panda's online service too
- both say no viruses.
Anyone come across this before or got any ideas?
