Continous system shutdown

R

Richard de Boer

I am having a problem with my computer continually
shutting down while on the internet. This is the message I
receive:

This system is shutting down. Please save all work in
progress and log off. Any unsaved changes will be lost.
This shutdown was initiated by NT Authority\system.
Windows must now restart because the RPC service
terminated unexpectedly.

I have Norton Antivirus and nothing shows to infected. How
can I fix this problem?

It's the new virus that has been going around. Microsoft
has a patch for it or you can check the symantec website.

To suppliment the other replies do this: when the NT authority panel is
displayed, during the 60 sec count down period, go START/RUN and type
'shutdown -a' without the quotes. This will stop the comp from shutting down
and give you time to visit the appropriate web sites for a solution. I used
www.f-secure.com/v-descs/msblast.shtml This site has a cleaning tool and
links to the MS site from where you can download the security patch.
