When I started my computer this morning I noticed that the contents of
a folder has disappeared. I have not deleted it and I'm fairly certain
the stuff in the folder are still on my computer since I still have
the same amount of free space I had before. Does anyone have an idea
of what happened and how to undo it?

Try this.

Right click the folder | Properties | General tab |
Make sure that the Hidden attribute is unchecked |
Click Apply | Click OK

It's unchecked. (I already have show hidden files enabled so it
wouldn't matter much)

Look in your Recycle Bin.

Look in your Recycle Bin.

I have done that as well. I think I have done all the obvious things.
I have rebooted in safe mode to see if it was still missing, run
scandisk etc but I haven't found anything.

Oops, I hadn't really checked everything obvious after all. Turns out
I had accidently moved the contents to another folder on the same
drive. Guess you shouldn't play with your computer when you're
drunk... Thanks for trying to help though.

LOL There is always something.

Glad you found the contents of the other folder..

Oh my i thought i found my answer when i read the title, because the contents of my folder DID disappear. And believe me i've done ALL i can (not to pass of as obnoxious, i'm a software dev, and i know my windows), but a whole list of files just disappeared from my directory. Even the folder customization file has disappeared.
Here are a few clues:
When i try to open the folder, there is a lag before the folder opens (other folders open immediately)

When i try to access it through cmd prompt and enter "dir", there is a pause, and this is shown "03/01/2006 02:24AM AM . File Not Found", which is truly weird

What's even more weird, is when i try to open the folder through network file sharing (ie through my laptop). I get this error "Data error (cyclic redundancy check)."

All this probably means my folder is corrupted. Is there ant way to recover the files..?

Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

Rgds, Mike
