Content Advisor

I set up a password in the content advisor to keep my
children from accessing everything on the internet. I
found out it pretty much disables all use of e-mail and
everything because most sites are not rated. I did not
write the password down and I do not remember what it
is. Is there any way to fix the problem? I am running
XP Pro. Without reformatting the hard drive?

Kent;
Take a look here:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en- us;318378&FR=1&PA=1&SD=HSCH#appliesto
You can save your Favorites before you try to fix IE. With IE
open/click File/click Import and Export/a Wizard pops up/follow instructions.
Hope this helps. Let us know.

Wes,
That did not fix it. I uninstalled IE and it is still
present when I try to get e-mail, it won't even let me go
to my e-mail server. Is the password in another program
and not IE?

Kent;
I am sure it is the Registry. Let me look at some things. I'll post back
right here, whether I find anything or not.

Found something!!!!!!
This should do it.
Content Advisor
Remove the Content Advisor and Ratings Password

Open your registry, find the key below. Single click on the key to
highlight
it, press the DELETE key, or alternatively select Delete from the Edit menu.
Close Internet Explorer, re-open it, and the Content Advisor feature should be
disabled.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Ratings

I found the above at Kelly's Korner. Thanks Kelly!!

If you need help with the Registry, post back.
This should do the trick.
