Contacts Won't Dial Phone Numbers

R

Richard Neville

I'm using Outlook 2003 (full version, not Express) with Windows XP. Recently
switched from dial-up to DSL. With dial-up, I could select a contact,
activate a line on the telephone, then use the phone icon on the standard
toolbar to dial any of the numbers appearing in the drop-down list.

With DSL, this automatic dialing feature no longer works, although I am able
to dial a number manually on the same phone line. Any suggestions?

You can't dial through a DSL line, only through an analog phone line, using a
modem (a regular modem, not a DSL modem). Plug your computer's modem into an
analog phone jack, ie., one that you can get a regular dial tone from.

Thank you. I did that and the automatic dialing worked fine and did not
interfere with the DSL.
