Contacts & Notes gone!

Running Outlook 2007 for sometime and started getting messages that I had
reached my limits. Realized that my Personal Folder was from the old version
so I copied all my folders and inbox files to the new Personal Folder 2007
and then deleted the old Personal Folder.

All of my contacts and Notes are gone!! Can anyone help me before I go into
a full blown panic attack????

Have you permanently deleted the old pst file, or is it in your Recycle Bin?

I have not empted my recycle bin but can't find the pst file. I just hit
delete in Outlook 2007 on the old personal folder.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

In my version of Outlook 2007 "delete" doesn't work on a pst file. Can you
be more explicit on what you actually did? Have you tried doing (in Outlook)
File-Open-Outlook Data File and seeing if it's still there?

Thanks soooooo much! Yes, the pst file was there and I just created another
data file and imported the pst file with the old format. Then copied the
contacts and notes to the 2007 personal folder. They are all there!!
Wahoooooooo!!

Thanks a million!!

YW, but with some warnings. If the old file was there there was no need to
do any importing, and you might well find that you have other problems now
caused by that very action.

FYI:
(Courtesy of Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook])

Importing an entire PST may well corrupt your profile and may create a ghost
PST that you can't close. Importing PST's will lose:
1. Custom Forms
2. Custom Views
3. Connections between contacts and activities
4. Received dates on mail
5. Birthdays and anniversaries in calendar
6. Journal connections
7. Distribution Lists

Opening a PST file will preserve all of these. That is why we do not advise
people to import a native file into Outlook.
