contacts not available in new mail message

long story - i'll keep it simple for now. Hard drive crash - copied contents
of damaged drive to external drive - restored laptop(toshiba) to factory
settings - running vista home premium. imported pst file into outlook 2003
from 2003 original file - now have extra folders, outlokk does not open to
inbox by default, and when i start a new message, my contacts are not
accessable by clicking link beside the address bar......any
suggestions......bill

Your data was already in Outlook format. Accordingly, you would certainly
never use export and import to transfer it, unless you particularly wanted
to lose it or corrupt your profile. Your question is answered here daily.
The file you needed to transfer is your Personal Folders file (*.pst) It's
where all the mail, calendar, contacts etc are stored.

Never import when transferring data between towo Outlook instances. YOu've
corrupted your mail profile. Time to create a new one.
