Contact - Sort by Catagories

I

Ian Mooney

I recently purchased an iPaq 2210 handheld and now use ActiveSync to
syncronise Outlook information between the iPaq and my desktop PC.

By design, ActiveSync only synchronises the contacts in the root contact
folder - so I've re-strucutred all my contacts into the root folder and use
the "Catagories" field to provide some order to the list. This enables
sorting / searching within the Contacts view however when I create a new
email and click on the "TO..." button I get one great big list of all my
contacts. I assume I'm missing something but I can't seem to find a way of
sorting through this pull-down list. Can anyone advise how I can sort OR
filter the list.

Ian

You can't sort the Outlook Address Book by Category.
Most of us use a view of the Contact Folder grouped by Category for that
purpose.

Russ,
Thank you for your reply. Can you advise how can I get a view of the
Contact Folder grouped by Category when I'm in a new mail message?

Clicking on the TO... button only brings up the "Select Names" screen which,
as I said, is full of all my contacts.

The only way I can see it working is to jump out of my new mail, back to the
main outlook form, select Contacts then drag/drop the contact(s) to my new
mail. Is this correct?

Regards
Ian

Just use the By Category view for sending the message.
Select the Category header. Actions > New Message to Contact
