contact birthday not displayed in calendar

In Outlook 2003 and prior versions, a Birthday and Anniversary entry in the
Contact record would show up as an appointment in the Calendar. I've just
noticed that this is not happening with Outlook 2007. Is there any way to
automatically populate the Calendar with a Contact's Birthday and Anniversary
information?

If you imported your contacts, that could explain it. If you open a
contact, modify something in it to itself, then save it again, does it
generate the birthday?
