Constant restart

My XPSP2 system requests restart on EVERY boot up. Event viewer shows userenv
1517, generated by system, and userenv 1524, generated by me. I downloaded
uphccleaner as suggested by MSoft, but it does not show in msconfig auto
startup, and starting it manually brings up a DOS screen. It is a very long
time since I used DOS, and I don't know what command is neede, if any.Can
anyone help, please?

UPHcleaner runs as a service. Click start, and type:
services.msc

You will find it listed and it should start 'automatically' in that setting.
If it is running, and it fails to fix the restart, you will probably need to
use whatever 'Recovery' options you find when you press F8 during the 'black
screen' portion of a restart (just after the BIOS screen)

clicked on Start ( do you mean start button and "run" ?) does not show
UPHcleaner at all, but what I think is a list of what is running. UPHcleaner
does not appear

Hi Mark. I did install the MSI - I HAVE been using computers since VIC 20 -
long before Bill Gates thoght of Windows.
However, I have now uninstalled uphclean altogether, and for the moment the
system seems happy. Not logical, but hey - it it fixes the problem, hooray!
Thanks for trying to hlep
