Constant Black screens

I have a computer right out of the box that is showing a black screen with a
cursor as soon as I boot up. 3 of 4 times I get a black screen, the rest of
the time I see my desktop. Anyone know how to fix this.

Are you waiting long enought for Vista to boot ? It does take a while. And
the screen is mostly black while it is booting.

I too am having this problem and find it very frustrating. I just received
and brand new Dell Inspiron 1501 about a few weeks ago. This blank screen
has been randomly rearing its ugly head since day one. I never know when it
is going to happen and I have to shut down and restart in order to get a
screen back. The one thing I am picking up on though is that it always
happens when I go to sync my IPOD and my digital camera. I connect one of
those things, it starts to sync, goes blank after a few seconds, I have to
shut down, restart and then I can sync without any problems.
Have you made any progress in regards to your blank/black screens?
