Consequence of Disk Defragment?

After I did a disk defragment in Windows Vista Home Premium, the Computer
window view changed to simple icons view, no longer in categories view like
the default setting.

The computer window now looks like this:

I prefer the default view which group the Drives into categories...

However i cannot find any way to switch it back to the category view.

Please help! Thanks in advance.

I don't think that defragmenting the drive caused this. Sometimes, Vista
just forgets the previous view that you selected even though you might have
customized less than twenty or so folders (as in my case on this machine).

The Group By option is not in either the Views menu item or the toolbar
button (both of which obviously should include it). What you have to do is
to right-click in the folder to find the Group By option. For what you
want, it's Group By Type. This is another example of the counter-intuitive
design of Vista.

Right click in the window and select Group By / Type. This should get it the
way you want.
