My computer will not release the ip address that comes
with xp and i cannot connect to the internet. Is there
any way I can force the computer to release the ip
address so i can renew it?

are you using DHCP or static IP? or post the result of ipconfig /all here.

If using DHCP:

Start > Run

type

CMD

and hit enter. In the window that opens up, type

ipconfig /release_all

and hit enter.
