Connection problem after DHCP lease expires

I have a problem at work. Our work stations won't connect to the intranet
after DHCP lease expires. We can continue to see the local network, but have
to use the ipconfig/release and then the ipconfig/renew, or simply re-boot to
get out on the intranet. We go through a proxy server to get to the internet.
I really don't think the problem is with the local work stations, but with
the DHCP server, or possibly a DNS problem. Any input would be most
appreciated.

Thanks,
Rick

The first thing I'd do would be to check event logs to find out why the
clients can't renew their IP addresses, and I'd do some network traces on
the workstations to try to determine why they aren't renewing their IP
addresses properly.
