Connection icon is gone

Hi
The connection icon is really gone. I believe the cause can be a registry
clean-up.
My home PC is XP SP2, but i dont have an ADSL connection, i use ISDN instead.
I have 3 connections, including home-to-office connection and other internet
connections. During dialing the process is displayed normally, but after
connected there is no icon. Not only this, but if you go to internet
connections they are all displayed as disconnected, although the PC is
actually connected and I browse normally. When I finish browsing I have two
options (in order to disconnect) either restart the PC or uplug the phone
cable. However the LAN connection icon is visible.

If you kindly advise me what is the registry key for the connection icon and
how can I restore it. The PC is not infected with any virus, spyware or
adware, because I scan it daily. Thanks

Michalis,

first make sure that, in Taskbar properties, you haven't checked
the hide inactive icons choice.

Hi Hans-Georg Michna. Sorry that I forgot to mention that I have unchecked
the hide inactive icons option and also I have checked the option "show icon
in notification area when connected"

I am newly registered in Microsoft communities, but I use XP for almost 4
years and I almost sure that this is a registry problem.

I have formatted my home PC 3 times now and I don’t want to do it again for
this small registry glitch. Just please somebody advise me how can I repair
the registry key for the internet connection.

Best regards
