Connecting XP Pro to Server 2000

I am using Windows 2000 Server with approx 10 computers running 98 and 2K.
Everything works fine. When connecting WinXp Pro to this Lan it finds the
Domain. But when logging onto Server 2000, I get error messages in the Event
Viewer in XP indicating that the machine can't log on because it can't find
the domain, yet I can see the server and other computers on the server once
it logs on. It just takes forever to log on...Any idea what is
happening...the PC is Intel 4, 3.1Ghz, 512K, brand new install...the same
prob on 2 new computers...set for DHCP...same thing happens when entering IP
addresses. Thanks

Are the Windows XP DNS settings configured to look only at the domain DNS
server, with the domain DNS server set to resolve outside addresses? If not
this is what you'll need to do.

For the DNS settings on the client computers, you'll find those settings in
Network Properties (Control Panel, Network Connections; or right-click "My
Network Places" and select Properties; either way right-click your Ethernet
connection and select Properties). On the domain side you will need to
check the DNS server, and the DHCP server options as well.
