Connecting to VPN Server

Misslemike

Hi folks,

I have a Windows 2000 VPN server with files for incomming
clients and a Server 2003 Domain Controller. Clients can
make a vpn connection no problem. But when they use the
run box and type \\vpnserver They get another Enter
network dialogue box stating the the username and password
are inncorrect. Only when a local account for the vpn
server is entered will the shares be accessed. All client
accounts are configured with dial in access in ADUC. The
vpn server is joined to the domain and seems to be working
properly. Can anyone help me as to why a local account for
the vpn server must be entered for client connectivity?
Thanks

That is the way it is supposed to be. The credentials you supplied to
initially make the VPN Connection do *only* that,...they make the
connection. Those credentials have nothing to do with accessing remote
resources.

It would probably also work if they use domain credentials by including the
domain name in front of the username at the prompt

Username: "domainname\username"
Password: "*******"
